Over the Peruvian Andes near the border with Bolivia, extreme altitude creates an otherworldly atmospheric pressure of just 640 pascals, while the thin air holds a surprising 76% humidity that transforms this harsh landscape into something dreamlike. The significant temperature anomaly and gentle northerly winds inspire biomorphic forms that seem to breathe and dissolve at their edges, caught between the corporeal and the ethereal. This high-altitude liminal space becomes a canvas for Gorky's tortured yet lyrical vision, where organic shapes emerge from earth-toned washes like half-remembered bodies or landscapes glimpsed through delirium.
