Over the Siberian Arctic Ocean at 60°N 90°E, where frigid waters meet the endless polar sky, the atmospheric conditions reveal a landscape of quiet intensity. The extremely cold temperature of 13.1 K (-260°F) dominates my palette, pulling me toward muted earth tones and icy blues rather than Francis's typical explosive primaries, while the moderate 5.2 m/s wind from the southwest creates gentle but persistent movement of color away from center. The low pressure system and high humidity manifest as heavy, saturated color pools that seem to condense and accumulate at the canvas edges, leaving a luminous breathing space in the composition's heart where the harsh polar environment creates its own meditative emptiness.
