Over the vast steppes of central Asia near Lake Balkhash in Kazakhstan, the atmosphere carries the weight of an intense pressure gradient while dry winds sweep across the landscape from the northwest. The extremely low temperature of 10.9°C and minimal humidity of 29% create a stark, crystalline environment where colors would pool in sharp-edged formations rather than bleeding softly. I've interpreted this harsh, dry cold through cool-toned stains that gather in defined pools with minimal spread, while the strong pressure gradient tilts these color fields dramatically across the canvas, and the northwest wind direction influences how the few translucent washes drift and settle.
