Creative Rationale

Over the desert Southwest of the United States, near the Arizona-Mexico border, an extreme atmospheric condition creates a harsh, arid environment with unusually cold temperatures and virtually no moisture. The extremely low pressure of 895.4 Pa suggests an intense weather system, while the moderate westerly winds at 5.9 m/s drive the compositional energy. Following Sam Francis's approach, I've interpreted this as explosive color bursts concentrated at the canvas edges, with the low pressure creating dense accumulations of saturated pigment that seem to pool and drip under their own weight, while the dry conditions and cold temperature anomaly manifest as stark, luminous negative space dominating the center with occasional icy blue accents cutting through the warm desert palette.
