Creative Rationale
Over the Canadian Arctic archipelago northwest of the mainland, where sea ice meets tundra in an endless expanse of white and brown, the extremely low atmospheric pressure creates a sense of compressed, claustrophobic forms pushing against each other. The significant temperature anomaly of 13.2K above normal translates into tortured, distorted biomorphic shapes that seem to writhe with thermal energy, while the moderate humidity allows forms to maintain some definition even as they bleed into neighboring masses. The gentle westerly wind adds subtle gestural sweeps that pull the organic forms horizontally across the composition, creating Gorky's characteristic tension between dissolution and emergence.
