Creative Rationale
Over the mountainous regions of central China, where humid air masses create dense atmospheric conditions, this piece emerges from the interplay of near-saturated humidity and subtle temperature anomalies. The 99% relative humidity drives the biomorphic forms to bleed and dissolve into one another, while the mild temperature anomaly of 2.8K creates lyrical floating shapes rather than tortured distortions. Light precipitation adds thin washes that further dissolve the underlying structure, and the low pressure creates a sense of compressed, claustrophobic forms pressing against the picture plane in true Gorky fashion.
