Creative Rationale
Over the arctic waters at 60°N on the Prime Meridian, north of the Faroe Islands in the Norwegian Sea, an intense low-pressure system churns through frigid air masses. The extremely cold temperature of 10.1 Kelvin creates a contemplative, almost otherworldly atmosphere that calls for Rothko's deepest blues and blacks from his most introspective period. The moderate pressure suggests three floating bands of color, while the high humidity of 96% makes these arctic hues glow with an inner luminescence, as if lit from within by aurora or moonlight on ice.
