Creative Rationale
Over the Bolivian Altiplano near the Chilean border, where the Andes stretch toward their most desolate heights, atmospheric pressure drops to an almost suffocating 638 Pascals while humidity clings at 83 percent despite the extreme altitude. The significant temperature anomaly of 15.8 K above normal creates a landscape of tortured, distorted biomorphic forms pressing urgently against the picture plane—organic shapes that suggest both the compressed lungs of high-altitude breathing and the fevered dreams of oxygen deprivation. The high humidity manifests as forms bleeding into one another at their edges, dissolving boundaries between earth and sky, body and landscape, while the gentle wind creates subtle gestural marks that seem to breathe through the composition like whispered memories of warmer valleys below.
