Creative Rationale
Above the high Andes of Peru and Bolivia, where the extreme altitude creates dramatically low atmospheric pressure and cold temperatures, this composition captures the thin, crystalline air of the altiplano. The exceptionally low sea-level pressure reading and cold temperature with significant anomaly suggest conditions at extreme elevation, while the light westerly wind and minimal precipitation create a sense of sparse, luminous atmosphere. Following Sam Francis's approach to explosive color energy, I've rendered this as muted earth tones and icy blues pooling at the canvas edges, with vast luminous negative space dominating the center to reflect the thin, rarified air and calm conditions of this high-altitude environment.
