Creative Rationale
Over the remote high-altitude plateau of Central Asia, near the border regions of Kazakhstan and China, an extremely cold and dry atmospheric condition creates a stark, crystalline environment. The bitter cold temperature of 30.3 K (-243°C) and low humidity of 21% inspire translucent fields of cool cerulean and teal that pool with sharp, defined edges rather than soft bleeding. The moderate wind from the northwest and significant pressure gradient create diagonal flows of color that streak across the canvas, while the absence of precipitation results in minimal color pooling, allowing the warm cream canvas to show through extensively.
