Creative Rationale
Over the Southern Ocean near the Kerguelen Islands at 60 degrees south latitude, fierce westerly winds and low atmospheric pressure create a dynamic storm system in the sub-Antarctic waters. The moderate wind speed of 11.2 m/s flowing from the northwest drives dense, agitated clusters of calligraphic marks that swarm and drift across the canvas in processional waves. The low pressure at 965 Pa causes these gestural elements to coalesce into crowded, atmospheric masses against deep blue-black grounds, while the high humidity of 89% creates misty, layered veils that soften and blur the delicate white and cerulean marks into jazz-like improvisational rhythms.
