Creative Rationale
Over the Arctic Ocean at the intersection of the Prime Meridian and 60 degrees North, where the Greenland and Norwegian Seas meet, frigid air carries minimal moisture across the polar waters. The extremely cold temperature of 12.8 Kelvin drives a palette of muted earth tones and icy blues, while the gentle 2.3 m/s wind creates soft, contained color pools rather than explosive splatters. The high pressure system manifests as sparse, delicate accumulations of color, leaving vast expanses of luminous white space to dominate the composition in true Sam Francis style.
