Creative Rationale
Over the Southern Ocean at 60 degrees south latitude, where the Antarctic Circumpolar Current churns through one of Earth's most volatile atmospheric zones, fierce winds of 12.6 m/s slash across the water under moderate pressure systems. The anomalously warm temperature of 21 degrees above the zonal mean in this polar region, combined with high humidity and the dynamic pressure gradient, creates a perfect storm of atmospheric energy. I've translated this meteorological violence into de Kooning's signature aggressive brushwork, with slashing diagonal forms driven by the strong northwesterly winds, while the unexpected warmth in this cold zone manifests as violent collisions between flesh pinks and icy greys, all compressed and pressed against the picture plane by the moderate atmospheric pressure.
