Creative Rationale
Over the Columbia River plateau in eastern Washington state, where the Cascade Range meets the high desert, extremely low atmospheric pressure creates a sense of atmospheric weight settling at the composition's edges. The barely perceptible easterly wind and anomalously warm temperature for this elevation inspire a contemplative arrangement where muted color pools gather at the periphery, leaving vast luminous breathing space in the center. The moderate humidity and absence of precipitation call for soft, diffused color boundaries that seem to dissolve into the white void like morning mist lifting from the river valleys.
