Creative Rationale
Over the high Andes mountains of Peru and Bolivia, where extreme altitude creates unusually low atmospheric pressure, frigid temperatures contrast sharply with the tropical latitude. The exceptionally low pressure (641.1 Pa) and cold temperature (6K with positive anomaly) inspire heavy pools of muted earth tones and icy blues accumulating at the canvas edges, while the gentle wind (1.6 m/s) keeps the central space open and breathing with luminous white negative space, following Francis's late compositional style where color retreats to the periphery.
