Above the high Andes of southern Peru and Bolivia, where thin mountain air creates extreme low pressure conditions, the atmospheric data reveals a stark, cold environment with gentle winds and high humidity suggesting possible snow or ice crystal formation. The extremely low pressure (640.5 hPa compared to sea level's 101,325 hPa) and frigid temperature of 4.9°C drive my interpretation toward Francis's more restrained compositions where color pools intensely at the edges while vast luminous space dominates the center. The minimal wind speed creates controlled, dense accumulations of muted earth tones and icy blues rather than explosive splatters, with the high humidity adding crystalline white formations that break through the color fields like mountain peaks emerging from clouds.
