Creative Rationale
Over the high Andes of Peru and Bolivia, where the extreme altitude creates an otherworldly atmospheric environment with dramatically low pressure and sparse humidity. The near-absence of wind allows colors to settle into deep, contemplative pools, while the anomalously warm temperature amid the thin air creates gentle ochre and salmon washes that seem to glow against the raw canvas. The dry conditions produce more opaque color fields with crisp edges where the stains meet untouched ground, and the steep pressure gradient causes the color masses to flow diagonally across the composition like mineral deposits settling in ancient lake beds.
