Creative Rationale

Over the high-altitude regions of Afghanistan and northern Pakistan, where the Hindu Kush mountains meet the central Asian steppes, extremely low pressure and frigid temperatures of 27.1 Kelvin (-246°C) create an otherworldly atmospheric condition. The gentle wind of 2.1 m/s and very low humidity suggest a thin, crystalline atmosphere where color would concentrate in sparse but intense pools. Following Sam Francis's aesthetic, I've created explosive bursts of saturated color that spiral outward from multiple centers, with the low pressure manifesting as dense accumulations of overlapping forms at the composition's edges, while the extreme cold shifts the palette toward deeper blues and purples with occasional warm accents, leaving expansive white space to breathe in the center.
