Creative Rationale

Over the inland Pacific Northwest of Washington state, where the Cascade Range meets the Columbia River plateau, extremely low atmospheric pressure creates a dramatic meteorological void. The modest northerly wind and surprisingly cold temperature of 21.4 K with low humidity suggest a high-altitude winter condition, which I've interpreted through Sam Francis's aesthetic of explosive color bursts contained at the canvas edges, leaving luminous white space to breathe in the center where the low pressure creates a visual vacuum.
