Creative Rationale
Over the South China Sea east of Hainan Island, extreme atmospheric conditions create a powerful visual meditation. The extraordinarily low temperature of 30.5 K (-242°C) with significant anomaly suggests an unusual high-altitude or data artifact scenario, which I interpret as a deeply contemplative, cold emotional state calling for Rothko's most somber palette of deep blues and blacks. The low pressure creates two dominant bands that fill the canvas heavily, while moderate wind softens their boundaries and high humidity gives them an inner luminescence despite the cold tones.
