Creative Rationale
Over the high Andes of Peru and Bolivia, near Lake Titicaca, the atmospheric data reveals an extraordinary scene of extreme cold at 0.0 Kelvin combined with unusual low pressure and gentle winds. This impossible temperature reading suggests a mystical, otherworldly quality that I've interpreted through Rothko's darkest contemplative palette of deep ultramarines, blacks, and midnight blues. The extremely low pressure creates two massive color fields that dominate the canvas, while the gentle wind and high humidity give these bands soft, luminous edges that seem to breathe and glow with an inner light despite their darkness.
