Over the remote Arctic Ocean north of eastern Siberia, extreme atmospheric conditions create a dramatic weather system with exceptionally low pressure and surprisingly warm temperatures for the polar region. The powerful 12 m/s winds from the southeast drive my interpretation toward Francis's explosive compositions, where violent gusts scatter color fragments across the canvas edges while the low pressure creates dense, saturated pools of pigment that seem to be pulled outward by the storm's energy.
