Creative Rationale

Over the Arctic Ocean north of the Chukchi Sea, where Siberian winds meet polar ice, the extreme cold and crushing low pressure create a landscape of psychological intensity. The brutal 10.2 K temperature with its significant anomaly manifests as tortured, distorted biomorphic forms pressed against the picture plane, while the 93% humidity causes these organic shapes to bleed and dissolve into one another like melting flesh. The gentle easterly wind adds subtle gestural marks flowing through thin, precipitation-soaked washes that dissolve the underlying structure, creating Gorky's characteristic tension between the corporeal and the ethereal.
