Creative Rationale
Over the high Altai Mountains of Central Asia, where the borders of Russia, China, Kazakhstan and Mongolia converge, extreme atmospheric conditions create a landscape of tortured beauty. The exceptionally low humidity of 12% drives forms into sharp, desiccated fragments that refuse to blend, while the massive temperature anomaly of 16K above normal infuses the composition with violent, distorted energy pressing against the picture plane. The moderate westerly wind creates gestural sweeps that cut through thin washes, revealing deeper earth tones beneath acid interruptions of unexpected color.
