Creative Rationale
Over the high plateaus of Afghanistan and Pakistan, where the Hindu Kush meets the Karakoram ranges, extremely cold temperatures and moderate atmospheric pressure create a stark, crystalline environment. The gentle easterly wind and complete absence of precipitation suggest a clear, dry mountain atmosphere where color would pool and concentrate rather than disperse, while the frigid 23.5K temperature calls for muted earth tones punctuated by icy blue accents. Following Sam Francis's approach to calm conditions, I've created expansive luminous negative space in the center with dense color accumulations gathering at the edges, where viridian greens and ultramarine blues suggest the cold mountain air, while warm cadmium yellows provide contrast like distant sunlight on peaks.
