Creative Rationale

Over the Arctic Ocean at 60 degrees north latitude on the Prime Meridian, harsh conditions create a dramatic atmospheric tension. The extremely low temperature of 12.2 Kelvin (-260°C) combined with moderate winds from the northwest and low sea-level pressure drives my interpretation toward Francis's edge-heavy compositions, where frigid muted tones accumulate in dense pools around the periphery. The moderate wind energy pushes color outward in controlled bursts rather than explosive splatters, while the high humidity adds weight to the color masses, creating heavy saturated pools that contrast against expansive white negative space representing the stark Arctic void.
