Creative Rationale
Over the Arctic archipelago north of Baffin Bay, where Greenland's ice meets the polar ocean, extreme cold dominates with temperatures plunging to -257°F, yet surprisingly mild winds and moderate pressure create an almost meditative atmospheric state. The brutal cold demands muted, icy tones with sparse color accumulation, while the gentle 16 mph winds allow color to settle rather than explode outward. Following Sam Francis's approach to calm conditions, I've created expansive luminous white space in the center with delicate pools of desaturated blues and earth tones gathering at the edges, punctuated by occasional brighter accents that suggest the aurora's distant glow against the polar night.
