Creative Rationale
Over the Kerguelen Islands in the Southern Ocean, where subantarctic winds carve through isolated volcanic peaks, the moderate humidity and significant temperature anomaly create a landscape of tortured biomorphic forms pressing urgently against the picture plane. The strong southwestern wind generates aggressive gestural marks that tear through thin atmospheric washes, while the near-normal sea level pressure allows these anguished forms to float in open painterly space, dissolving at their edges like memories of bodies caught between dream and geological time.
