Creative Rationale
Over the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, where Baffin Bay meets the Labrador Sea, extreme temperature anomalies and near-saturated air create a charged atmospheric tension. The moderate wind speed drives aggressive diagonal slashes across the composition, while the significant positive temperature anomaly transforms what should be an icy arctic palette into heated flesh tones and cadmium yellows colliding with raw blacks. The high pressure and minimal precipitation create compressed forms pressing against the picture plane, with only thin runs of diluted color cutting through the thick gestural marks.
