Creative Rationale
Over the forested regions of eastern Quebec near the St. Lawrence River valley, moderate winds from the southwest meet relatively low pressure and warm temperatures creating dynamic atmospheric movement. The gentle but persistent 3.6 m/s wind drives color outward in controlled bursts while the low pressure of 1006.8 Pa creates dense pools of saturated pigment that accumulate at the canvas edges, leaving expansive luminous white space in the center typical of Francis's later period works.
