Creative Rationale

Over the Southern Ocean at 60 degrees south latitude on the prime meridian, in the turbulent waters between Antarctica and the Atlantic, fierce westerly winds and extremely low pressure create a dynamic atmospheric cauldron. The bitter cold temperature with its striking anomaly suggests an unusual weather system, while 100% humidity and moderate winds drive my interpretation toward Francis's explosive early period - saturated color bursts radiating outward from multiple centers, with the low pressure manifesting as dense accumulations of ultramarine and viridian at the canvas edges. The cold conditions mute the palette toward deeper, more brooding tones with occasional icy white punctuations, while the significant wind energy creates chaotic splatters and gestural marks that seem to push color toward the periphery.
