Creative Rationale

Over the highlands of Afghanistan and Pakistan, where the Hindu Kush mountains meet the Karakoram range, extremely low pressure creates dense pools of saturated color that settle along the canvas edges like paint accumulating in the corners of Francis's studio floor. The gentle wind barely disperses these chromatic pools, while the frigid mountain air translates to muted earth tones punctuated by sharp ultramarine accents, leaving vast expanses of luminous white space to breathe in the center where the thin atmosphere creates an almost meditative emptiness.
