Creative rationale

Over the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, northwest of Baffin Bay, frigid air masses create a landscape of atmospheric tension. The extremely cold temperature of 6.3°C drives a palette of muted earth tones and icy accents, while the moderate wind from the northeast pushes color fragments toward the canvas edges in controlled bursts. The high relative humidity and substantial pressure gradient manifest as dense, saturated pools of color that accumulate at the periphery, leaving expansive luminous white space breathing in the center, embodying Francis's signature approach to negative space as an active compositional element.
