Creative Rationale
Over the North Atlantic, southwest of Ireland in the tempestuous waters between Europe and the mid-Atlantic ridge, a dynamic weather system churns with moderate winds and saturated air. The relatively low pressure of 1003.2 Pa creates heavy concentrations of color that pool and accumulate at the canvas edges, while the 13 m/s southerly wind drives explosive bursts of pigment outward from these dense formations. The cold temperature of 21.1 K shifts the palette toward deeper, more muted versions of Francis's signature primaries, punctuated by icy white spaces that dominate the center, representing the high humidity and light precipitation as luminous negative space that breathes between the energetic color fields.
