Over the Arctic Ocean northeast of Greenland, where sea ice meets the harsh polar atmosphere, extreme temperature anomalies create a landscape of thermal contrast. The moderate southwest wind drives diagonal sweeping motions across this frozen expanse, while the steep pressure gradient reveals multiple atmospheric layers of varying density and color. The significant temperature anomaly of 14.4°C above normal transforms what should be bitter arctic blues into warmer underlying tones that break through the surface tension like paint scraped away by Richter's squeegee technique.
