Creative rationale
Over the Southern Ocean southeast of Madagascar, fierce westerly winds churn through a zone of moderate low pressure where cold Antarctic air creates dramatic atmospheric instability. The strong 15.9 m/s winds from the west drive explosive bursts of saturated color toward the eastern edges of the composition, while the relatively low pressure at 1000.8 hPa creates dense accumulations of pigment that pool and concentrate. The bitter cold temperature of 6.8°C translates into muted earth tones punctuated by icy blue accents, with high humidity manifesting as soft, bleeding edges where colors blur and merge like wet watercolor on paper.
