Creative Rationale

Over the Arctic Ocean northwest of the Great Bear Lake in Canada's Northwest Territories, extreme atmospheric conditions create a stark yet luminous composition. The exceptionally low pressure at 901.6 Pa suggests an intense low-pressure system, while the temperature anomaly of 11.7 K above normal indicates unusual Arctic warming. Following Sam Francis's approach, I've interpreted these conditions as heavy pools of saturated color accumulating at the canvas edges due to the low pressure, with gentle wind-driven splatters extending inward, and the temperature anomaly expressed through surprisingly warm cadmium reds and yellows contrasting against cool blues, all surrounding Francis's signature expansive white breathing space in the center.
