Creative Rationale
Over the Barents Sea north of Norway, where Arctic waters meet the atmosphere in perpetual tension, the moderate pressure and high humidity create a dreamscape of dissolving forms. The significant temperature anomaly of 6.2K above normal generates tortured biomorphic shapes that press urgently against the picture plane, while the strong northwesterly winds drive gestural marks through thin, precipitation-laden washes. Light precipitation adds translucent veils that blur the boundaries between organic forms, creating Gorky's characteristic ambiguity between landscape, body, and memory.
