Creative Rationale
Over the Southern Ocean in the remote Antarctic waters, where fierce westerly winds circle the globe unimpeded by land, the atmospheric data reveals a world of extremes - crushing low pressure, saturated air, and a dramatic temperature anomaly that speaks to the volatile meeting of polar and oceanic forces. The complete humidity saturation drives forms to bleed and dissolve into one another like organisms viewed through condensation, while the significant temperature anomaly manifests as tortured, pressing shapes that seem to emerge from and retreat into the canvas simultaneously. The moderate wind creates gestural sweeps that cut through translucent washes, and the low pressure compresses the composition into an intimate, claustrophobic space where biomorphic forms struggle for definition.
