Creative Rationale
Over the high Andes of Peru near the border with Bolivia, at extreme altitude where atmospheric pressure drops to a fraction of sea level, cold thin air carries gentle winds across the sparse landscape. The extremely low pressure creates dense congregations of calligraphic marks that mass like crowds seeking shelter, while the bitter cold drives the palette toward stark whites and silver against deep blue-black grounds. The moderate humidity softens these gestural marks with atmospheric veiling, and the light wind sets them drifting slowly across the canvas in processional bands.
