Creative Rationale

Over the Southern Ocean, roughly equidistant between the southern tip of Africa and Antarctica, fierce westerly winds sweep across the vast emptiness. The moderate wind speed of 16.9 m/s from the northwest creates diagonal sweeping strokes across my canvas, while the significant pressure gradient suggests multiple paint layers being revealed through aggressive squeegee work. The temperature anomaly of nearly 10 degrees above normal translates into warm underlying colors - deep reds and yellows - being exposed beneath cooler surface greys and blues, creating Richter's characteristic tension between concealment and revelation.
