Creative rationale
Over the high Andes of southern Peru and Bolivia, where the extreme altitude creates an otherworldly atmospheric environment, the bitter cold temperature of 6.2°C and moderate humidity of 72% inspire a composition of cool translucent washes that pool and settle like morning mist in mountain valleys. The gentle wind from the southwest and absence of precipitation create soft, barely-moving color fields that seem suspended in the thin air, while the significant pressure gradient causes the ethereal stains to flow diagonally across the canvas like glacial meltwater finding its path down ancient stone.
