Creative rationale

This artwork represents the waters of the South Atlantic Ocean at 60 degrees south latitude, directly south of the Atlantic mid-ridge in the stormy Southern Ocean near the Antarctic Convergence. The extreme cold temperature with a massive positive anomaly, combined with high humidity and moderate wind from the west-southwest, creates a composition dominated by blue rectangles arranged in a heavily asymmetric grid weighted toward the left side of the canvas. The high pressure gradient and humidity translate into a dense network of thick black dividing lines creating smaller geometric cells, while the harsh Antarctic conditions minimize the presence of warmer colors, allowing blue to dominate this neoplastic interpretation of polar maritime atmosphere.
