This composition represents the atmospheric conditions over the Drake Passage near Cape Horn, where the Southern Ocean meets the Antarctic Peninsula at 60°S, 60°W. The high pressure gradient and strong westerly winds create dense archaeological layers of mark-making, while the extreme temperature anomaly of 19.4°C drives chaotic gestural breaks through more structured underlayers. The 97% humidity allows multiple painted generations to show through with translucent palimpsest effects, and light precipitation adds vertical drip marks suggesting the passage of time across this reworked surface.
