Creative Rationale

Over the high Andes of southern Peru and northern Bolivia, where the extreme altitude creates an otherworldly atmospheric environment, the massive pressure gradient and significant temperature anomaly speak to the violent geological forces at work in this mountain landscape. The moderate humidity and gentle winds suggest a contemplative moment within this harsh terrain, while the absence of precipitation allows for clear, thin air that reveals geological layers carved by millennia. I interpret this as a deeply worked palimpsest where tectonic pressures have created dense, overlapping strata - each atmospheric layer representing geological time, with warm Andean earth tones breaking through cooler high-altitude grays, and the temperature anomaly manifesting as disruptive marks that fragment the otherwise methodical accumulation of painted layers.
