Creative rationale
Over the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, north of Baffin Island in the frigid waters between Greenland and mainland Canada, calm atmospheric conditions prevail with barely perceptible winds and high humidity creating a crystalline stillness. The near-freezing temperature with its significant positive anomaly suggests an unusual warming event in this polar region, which I interpret through muted earth tones punctuated by icy blue accents, while the gentle winds allow for expansive white breathing space in the center with delicate color pools gathering at the periphery. The high humidity and stable pressure create soft, saturated color fields that seem to float and merge at the canvas edges, embodying Francis's luminous negative space aesthetic.
