Creative rationale
Over the Southern Ocean southeast of the Kerguelen Islands, this remote maritime location experiences moderate winds from the northwest and relatively mild temperatures for the harsh subantarctic waters. The strong pressure gradient of 40.49 hPa/cell creates tightly packed undulating lines that pulse with optical intensity, while the 13.2 m/s wind speed generates rapid, frequent wave patterns that seem to vibrate across the canvas. The cool 8.3°C temperature calls for Riley's classic black-and-white approach, but the significant positive temperature anomaly introduces subtle warm grays that break the stark monochrome with calculated precision.
