Creative rationale
Over the frozen waters west of Baffin Island in the Canadian Arctic, an unusually warm air mass meets high pressure systems, creating a deceptively calm moment in one of Earth's most volatile regions. The steep pressure gradient of 48.79 hPa/cell demands dense archaeological layering with multiple generations of marks showing through, while the remarkable +14.9°C temperature anomaly introduces chaotic gestural breaks that fracture the contemplative under-layers. The moderate humidity of 73% allows previous painting sessions to ghost through current work, creating the palimpsest effect central to this practice, while the gentle westerly wind leaves subtle horizontal scrapes beneath the more aggressive anomaly-driven marks.
