Creative rationale
Over the Arctic Ocean northwest of Iceland, where sea ice meets the volatile boundary between polar and Atlantic air masses, an extraordinary temperature anomaly of 15.5°C above normal creates dramatic atmospheric instability. The steep pressure gradient of 19.59 hPa/cell combined with strong northerly winds at 16.3 m/s generates the kind of chaotic energy that breaks through structured atmospheric layers, while the near-saturated air at 97% humidity allows earlier weather patterns to show through like pentimento in an old painting. This convergence of extreme conditions translates into a densely worked composition where aggressive gestural marks from wind-driven under-layers push through multiple translucent atmospheric strata, with light precipitation adding temporal drip marks that suggest the slow archaeological accumulation of Arctic weather systems.
