Creative Rationale
Over the Southern Ocean between Antarctica and the Kerguelen Islands, fierce winds carve through humid air beneath brooding low pressure. The extremely cold temperature of 11.8 K drives me toward Mitchell's winter palette of steely blues and greys, while the substantial wind speed of 18.2 m/s creates elongated diagonal gestures sweeping from northeast to southwest. The high humidity and low pressure combine to generate dense, overlapping brushstroke clusters against a darker ground, with only glimpses of luminous space breathing through the accumulated marks.
